Islamic Coexistence, Moderation in Works of Muhammad Sadiq Arjun
Born in 1903 in a town in Egypt’s Aswan Governorate, Arjun studied at Al-Azhar Islamic University and graduated in 1929.
He then stated teaching at centers affiliated to Al-Azhar, including one in Alexandria. In 1964, he became the dean of the Faculty of Arabic Language and Religious Principles.
Arjun also traveled to countries like Kuwait, Libya, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia for research and teaching, writing books during his stays in those countries.
“Uthman ibn Affan”, “Ali ibn Abi Talib, Exemplary Successor of Holy Prophet (PBUH)”, “Great Quran and Guidance and Miracles in Remarks of Interpreters”, and “An Approach to Quran Interpretation Method” are the titles of some of his books.
His main book, which he spent ten years to author and was published in four volumes is “Muhammad, the Messenger of God; Approach and Mission”.
It is considered to be one of the best works written in the contemporary era about the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
In this book, Arjun has offered critiques of the views of those who have raised doubts about the Seerah.
Arjun also wrote books and articles about religious characters like Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali and his views about Sufism and freedom of expression.
In “An Encyclopedia on Islam’s Coexistence”, published in two volumes, Arjun elaborates on Islam’s coexistence and moderation in different areas.
After years of efforts to promote Islam and the Holy Quran, Arjun died in 1981.
